Are You Following After Things?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. Matthew 6: 31-32
Yesterday, we looked at Gods expectation of us when faced with challenges. Rather than taking thought and saying the wrong things, we saw how to counter the suggestions of the devil with the word of God. But the question today is very key: are you following after things or are you following after God. If you are following after things, no matter how many positive confessions you make, they will not work. You know why? It is because God sees beyond your actions and sees your heart. When you dont have the heart and mouth connection, your words will be empty. Let me illustrate what I mean: take for instance you are confronted with bills and in your heart you are saying: I had better go and sort myself out. These bills are piling up and getting embarrassing. Maybe rather than pay my full tithe, let me just put something in the tithe envelope and help myself. After all, heaven helps those who help themselves. However, with that in your heart you keep saying: I believe God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory yet you are defaulting in your tithe and using it to pay your bills, or you are defrauding your office, inflating figures and using the money to pay your bills. Beloved, you are not following God; you are following after things.
That may sound hard but it is truth. I know that many good medications are bitter, but that does not stop them from curing the ailment. So the truth may be bitter, but you need to hear it to be totally delivered. Child of God, if God be God, let Him be God in every area of your life. Dont try to help Him. You cannot be defrauding your office and using it to pay your bills and still be saying God supplies all your needs. God wont lead you to steal or cheat or do funny things to get money. When God blesses, He blesses. Yes, the road may be rough. You may have to prune down in order to grow again. Learn from a tree: when it seems to have reached its peak, the farmer comes, trims it, prunes it and in a matter or time, it grows bigger again.
No matter the situation that you are facing; dont try to help God. God is God all by Himself. Hold on to Him, stand firm on His word and He will come through for you. I pray for you today that your faith will not fail. That condition will change and the name of God will be glorified in your life in Jesus name.
