WHEN YE FAST

When You Fast

Moreover when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward Matthew 6:16

At this time of the year, we are just a few days away to October fast. For those who are coming across the Ministry of TREM for the first time, October is one month every living TREMite takes out the entire month 31 days to fast. Most times I encourage people to go the full hog fast until 6 p.m. However, I know some people might not be able to do it either due to age, medical condition and pregnancy. But if none of these apply to you, I encourage you to start now to prepare yourself to fast. It is precisely five days to go.

But Bro. Mike, why do we fast? That is a very good question. Many have short-circuited the power of God in their lives by not fasting. Yes Jesus paid the full price, but look at the scripture above, Jesus, Himself, speaking He did not say, IF you fast but WHEN you fast. Which implies that He expects you to fast.

What is fasting? Fasting is abstaining from food for a specific period of time for the purpose of seeking the face of God. I know that there are different types of fast, but this is not a theological discourse, in a few days we will begin our annual fast. Even if you are not a member of TREM, I encourage you to join us in this fast because God is set to release some outstanding blessings in our midst as we seek His fast in prayers during this period.

Let me sound a note of caution here: abstaining from food without praying is not fasting, it is starving. Dont plan to starve yourself. If you fast, make out time to pray. Prayer does not mean you that you have to announce it to people that you are praying. You can use your lunch hour period in October for prayers, so while your colleagues go out for lunch, you can stay back pray and read the word. Start now to prepare yourself for it and also pray towards it and God will do incredible things for you.
