Benefits Of Staying In The Word
And he took his staff in his hand and chose himself five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherds bag which he had. 1 Samuel 17:40 KJV
David chose five smooth stones. But we are not talking about physical stones. The scripture tells us in 1 Peter 1:5 that believers are the living stones. But is it every stone that can bring down Goliath? What type of stone are you? The stones were taken from the brook or valley where water runs. It shows that the stones are inside the water. And water is a type of the word of God. The bible says …that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word (Ephesians 5:26 KJV). So you are a lively stone and God expects you to stay in the water of the word. The benefits of staying in the word include:
1 The longer you stay in the word the stronger you become. This is why the bible says Let the word of God dwell in you richly (Collosians3:16 KJV).
2 The word of God prepares you. It makes you a fast shooter. It makes you to shoot on target. The word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword piercing even to the dividing asunder of souls and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). So when God tells you to stay in the word, it is not to punish you. It is to position you to bring down the Goliath that is challenging your destiny.
3 The more you stay in the word, the more you discover and become who you are. But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image. (2 Corinthians 3:18). If you dont know who you are, you cannot confront your Goliath. The word is your mirror. It tells you that you are not what the devil says that you are. The word tells you that you have authority. The word shows you that whatever you bind here on earth is bound in heaven and what you loose on earth is loosed in heaven. The word tells you that the greater One lives in you. Therefore you are a winner.
I pray for you that you will stay in the word and enjoy the full benefit of being in the word. You will not be defeated neither will you be put to shame in Jesus name.
