The force of righteousness
November 10 Monday
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
Righteousness is so powerful that it takes God to impart it on you. When you invited Jesus into your life, you were automatically made righteous. However, it does not end there, God also expects you to ‘do’ righteousness. What does it mean to do righteousness? It means doing the right thing in the sight of God no matter the cost so that you will maintain your right standing with God. This in a nutshell is what integrity is all about. Don’t believe the lie of the devil that says “once saved, always saved”. Beloved, it is a lie from the very pit of hell.
Joseph walked in righteousness and the force of righteousness helped him to prevail. Daniel and the three Hebrew boys walked in righteousness and they prevailed. Walking in righteousness does not guarantee you a trouble-free life; however, it guarantees you victory in every challenge the devil throws at you. Jacob in Gen. 30:33 said “my righteousness will speak for me …” The force of righteousness is so strong that it speaks on your behalf. It will always cause you to prevail in the journey of life. Remember the story of Mordecai and Esther in the book of Esther? They prevailed because of their righteousness. It pays to have a right standing before God at all times because it empowers God to fight for you.
Now, this does not imply that as a believer you cannot make mistakes. No! When you do, go back to God. Confess His righteousness. 1 John 1:9 declares: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When you fall into sin, confess immediately and forsake it and you are back in right standing with God. 1John 1:9 is not a license to sin, but rather a comfort when we fall into sin. Don’t make a habit of sin. Sin will kill, disgrace and embarrass you; but the force of righteousness will promote you. It will catapult you into the big league and cause your name to be great right here on earth.
