Opportunities Could Be Dressed In Rags
December 21, Sunday

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7 (KJV)

As we approach the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, there are some very instructive things to learn from the story of His birth. Whether He was born on the 25th of December or the 10th of February is not the issue, the important thing is that He was born, He died and rose again just for you and i. That fact cannot be denied. Thank God He came and paid the price so we do not have to sacrifice the blood of bulls and goats because the price for our redemption was paid once and for all.

Looking at the scripture above, opportunities they say come dressed in rags, but the challenge is that many believers cannot discern and so turn their backs on golden opportunities. Can you imagine being approached for the Saviour to be born in your inn and you say there is no space? Now, think of it: if the inn-keeper had known that the person asking for a room is about to give birth to Jesus who is the Son of the Living God, do you think he would have say no? Even if there was no room, I am sure he would have offered his own.

Daily, opportunities come towards you, but the question is do you see the opportunities? Are you so busy that you cannot see the opportunities when they come knocking? Are you so spiritually insensitive that you cannot discern the opportunities that come your way? Today, more than any other time in history, is the time to pray for the gift of discernment. You need the discernment of the Spirit so that you can know when opportunities come dressed in rags.

I pray for you, as we approach the end of this year that the Lord will open your eyes of understanding and give you as divine direction that you will no longer miss anything that God has prepared for you.
