GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT Saturday, 10 January 2015
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
Yesterday, looking at this scripture, we talked about building a kingdom mentality. Today, I want to take it further. God demands to be number one in our lives. God is a jealous God. He does not hide the fact that nothing in our lives should compete with Him.
God said in Isaiah 43:11, “I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour” (KJV). In Isaiah 44:6, He said “[. . .] I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God” (KJV). Even further, in Isaiah 45:5, He continues with: “I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me [. . .]” (KJV).
Do you see the repeated message in those scriptures? I can go on and on, but you should see that God is reemphasising the fact that He is the priority. Let me shock you here: your service is not the priority. Yes, God wants you to be active in church, but your relationship with Him must come before your service to Him. Don’t serve the God you do not know. Instead, serve Him whom you have a deep relationship with.
When God becomes your priority, many things will fall into place in your life. The things that you so dearly struggle to get will come to you with ease because in His presence you will receive clues on how to get things done. Moses did not break a sweat when parting the Red Sea. He simply obeyed God and the sea gave way. Joshua did not break his head when conquering Jericho; he listened to the seemingly childish instruction from God, marched around the wall as instructed, and the walls came down.
When you get your priorities straight and learn to live from the mouth of God things will fall in place for you. The things you have struggled so hard for will come to you with great ease because the God who knows all will give you the master key that unlocks the door. Seek His face, receive instructions from His mouth, and the struggles will end.
