PRINCIPLES OF SUCCESS (2)

PRINCIPLES OF SUCCESS (2) Tuesday, 6 January 2015

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

To succeed in life you must be a person of vision. There must be a goal or a target that you are aiming at. Otherwise you will drift around aimlessly and in the final analysis you will have gained nothing. Always stay focussed on your vision without wavering. For instance, where do you want your business or career to go this year? Your vision will sustain you even when the storms and challenges come. Joseph was sustained by the dream he had even in a foreign land. A man of vision is a man of purpose and cannot be stopped. Don’t join the company of those who believe that what will be, will be. If you don’t have a clear vision of where you are going, this is the best time to retrace your steps and pencil your vision down. You will be glad you did.

Another principle of success is thinking big because you are only as big as your thoughts. If you think small, you will achieve small things, but if you think big, you will achieve greatness. The Bible is filled with dreamers, men and women who dared to do big things for God. They were ordinary people but their feats made them extraordinary. They dared to do the impossible and God, who controls all possibilities, made it possible for them. If you do not dream, there is nothing for God to say amen to.

Challenges do not mean that you have reached the end of the road. What you call a mountain today may simply be a stepping stone to greater heights. Notice that in James 1:2 the scripture does not say “if” but rather says “when ye fall into diverse temptations”. Challenges are a part of life. When they come, don’t be discouraged; instead, speak to yourself and say, “This too shall pass away.” Proverbs 24:16 says that the righteous man “falleth seven times, and riseth up again”, which implies that falling and rising are expected as we move along in life. The lesson here is that if you are ashamed to fall in life, you will never attempt anything. Don’t let fear of failure keep you in bondage, thereby denying you the pleasure of success. If you never attempt anything, you will get nothing in life. Failure is not failure because you have failed, but because you refused to get up.
