LIFT UP YOUR VISION Thursday, 29 January 2015
“Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel. And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.” 2 Chronicles 2:4-5 (KJV)
Do you know how much Bible researchers say it cost to build Solomon’s temple in today’s currency? It is estimated to be about $205 billion (US). God is not an NGO (non-governmental organisation); He is El Shaddai. So let’s stop pretending that God is cheap. Stop this child’s game and lift up your vision because if God can do great things for one person, He can do it for another.
Every time you read something like this in the scripture, don’t just gloss over it. Pause and take a moment to reflect on it. If God allowed Solomon to build such an expensive temple, then what was the worth of the people who built it? For too long believers have been involved in what I call “cockroach vision.” We are too afraid to think big let alone act big. We have equated poverty with righteousness, yet the temple from which God poured out His glory was worth a whopping $205 billion. Think about it. Is God calling us to materialism? Of course not! Rather, He is asking us to take all that heaven has in store for us. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, so why should you die in lack, hunger, sickness, and disease?
Lifting up your vision is not all about money. It is the total victory that the Apostle John made clear in 3 John 2: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (KJV). Lift up your vision; dare to dream. Let your imagination run wild in righteousness. Desire to be blessed and even better to be a blessing. Take time to seek the face of God. Receive clear-cut instruction from His mouth. He knows where the riches of this world are and He is able to show you the hidden, secret places. I pray for you now that this year I will see you at a higher level in Jesus’s name.
