HAVE FAITH IN WHAT YOU CARRY Wednesday, 4 February 2015
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 (KJV)
Whether we like it or not, there is a battle going on in the realm of the spirit. And it is getting stronger and stronger because the devil knows that he is running out of time. This is why you must do everything to stand just as the scriptures say; having done all to stand, stand firm. This is not the time to vacillate with one leg in and one leg out. The truth is that the devil is shooting at random, hoping that he will get somebody who has lost his place. But there is a place that God has prepared for us so that when the enemy is shooting he cannot get to us.
According to the account in Judges 6, the Israelites laboured and laboured only to see the Midianites take their harvest from them. Then God appeared to Gideon and said, “The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour” (Judges 6:12, KJV). Gideon replied, saying, “If the Lord be with us [. . .] where be all his miracles. . .?” (Judges 6:13, KJV). Does that not sound familiar? Have you not asked: Where are those promises you made? If God is with us, why are we encountering these challenges? Why are things turning upside down for me? You ask: If God is with me, why am I still sick? Why have I not gotten a job? Why am I still experiencing financial difficulties and challenges? Why are these things happening to me?
While God has heard your questions, His response has probably not been what you expected. He simply said to Gideon: “Go in this thy might” (Judges 6:14, KJV). In other words, God believes in the thing He has put inside you. He can see your potential even though you do not. The fact is that some of us don’t have faith in what we have. We don’t trust what God has put in us even though we often quote the biblical verse that says “greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4, KJV).The question is: do you really believe that the greater one lives inside you? Did you notice that God did not say that you “will overcome” but that you “have overcome”? It is time for you to square your shoulders and walk in the knowledge of who you are. Have faith in what you carry inside of you and be the overcomer that God has made you.
