DESIRE GROWTH (2) Sunday, 8 February 2015
“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection [. . ..].” Hebrews 6:1 (KJV)
It is not enough to rehearse the scriptures even though doing so is wonderful. However, what is more important is that you believe in what you say. All things become possible to those who believe. You too can live the kind of life Christ lived. He reigned supreme over every challenge that He faced. No kind of challenge could lord it over Him; rather He was on top of every challenge He encountered. Like Jesus you too can conquer your challenges because He said the things He did you will do-and even greater. And as the Father sent Him, so has He also sent you. But you need to grow up.
We read about the people of Thebes and how they were running from Abimelech in the Book of Judges. Remember that they did not just run into the tower but went to the very top. Going to the top of the tower signifies that they went to the zenith of their Christianity. This involves taking possession of everything that Jesus Christ died for and refusing to remain at the foundational message level, which includes items like don’t commit sins, pay your tithe, forgive your brothers, and repent. The people of Thebez left the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ behind and aimed for perfection. They strove to get better every day, sought victory, and took charge of every challenge that stood before them.
We must realize that we are called to be in charge and to reign in life. Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (KJV). Jesus literally closed the book and became it. Therefore we ought to close the book and make ourselves the book the world reads. We must walk with the same level of authority and dominion that Jesus had. Child of God, you can do it because Jesus did the same as an example for you. I declare to you today that you will not be defeated. Every challenge the enemy throws at you shall bow before you. You will overcome. You will testify in Jesus’s name.
