“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)

Genesis 1 reveals how God functions and teaches how man, who is created in God’s image and likeness, should function. In the beginning, according to the scriptures, God created the heaven and earth. God is a good God. He has no evil to give. He has nothing bad to give to any man. All He gives is good.

But in Genesis 1:2, there seems to be a contradiction: “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep [. . .]” (KJV). In verse 3, God began to show His children how they ought to function. He took charge by exercising dominion. “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light” (Genesis 1:3, KJV). Instantly, darkness was expelled. That is how one rules. That is how to exercise dominion-through the spoken word! You shouldn’t fold your hands and allow the devil to run riot over you. Don’t sit down and cry to God. Do something. Didn’t you know that you are His representative here on earth? “The heaven, even the heavens are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men” (Psalm 115:16, KJV).

You have the authority of God. Therefore whenever you see the devil, you should expel him. The world was created with the spoken word. God said, and God saw. This world was not created out of what is seen. He upholds “all things by the word of his power” (Hebrews 1:3, KJV). If you remove the word now, everything you see will disintegrate. The word is that powerful. It can create and sustain. We are made in the image and likeness of God. So we can also speak like God and our words will create and sustain our circumstances. Jesus declares in Mark 11:23 that you can have whatever you say if you believe; do not doubt in your heart.

The reason the devil is running all over you is because you don’t know who you are. My prayer for you today is that the Lord will open your eyes so that you realise you are in Christ and accept the authority that is yours in Him.
