KEEP YOUR HEART Monday, 23 March 2015
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)
One of the things you must be careful about this year is pressure. When people do what is wrong, it’s not because they don’t know that it is wrong, it is because they are under pressure and are desperate for a solution. So they go to places where they are not supposed to go. They are told to do things they know they are not supposed to do and because they are under pressure, they go ahead and do what they are not supposed to. They will not tell their pastor about their actions and they will tell the person that led them astray not to tell another about them. Such people forget that their actions are no longer a secret because somebody, the person who led them astray, already knows of them.
You have to allow the peace of God to settle in your heart. You cannot allow everything and anything into your life. You have to reject those things that are contrary to the word of God and cling to that which is of God. Our text today says: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23, KJV). To keep your heart is to guard your heart. If you fail to guard your heart, you will amount to little or nothing in life. If you don’t do what is right with your heart, your life will be in shambles. If the devil succeeds in lodging negative thoughts and ideas in your heart to the extent that you accept them, then don’t expect to succeed in whatever you do. You cannot load the negative into your heart and expect a positive life; for whatever man thinks in his heart, so he is.
Matthew 15:18 says, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man” (KJV). So the things you store in your mind and eventually bring forth from it are the things that can destroy you. Therefore, learn to keep your mind healthy. Diligently guard your mind and never allow any evil to make a deposit. Any deposit that is capable of defiling must be ejected by corresponding meditation on the word of God. Sometimes, you may be deprived of your rights, but still keep your heart because your heart determines your destination. I declare to you today that your mind will not be defiled and that you will fulfil your destiny in Jesus name.
