“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread and in prayers.” Acts 2:42 (KJV)

The phrase ‘continued steadfastly’ simply implies that they did not just stop at what they heard. They made an effort to continue in the doctrine {or teachings} of the apostles, in fellowship and in prayers. You must understand that it is in continuing steadfastly in the word, fellowship and prayers that growth takes place. It is in continuing that you make it to the end. It is in continuing that you get to the next level of God’s plan and purpose for your life. You cannot afford to relent in your walk with the Lord.

I know that there are times you feel like giving up. There are times the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak (like we are quick to quote). I know there are times you just don’t feel like doing anything. Those times do come; but you must speak to yourself. Encourage yourself. Be determined. Draw from the inner strength. Don’t let weariness get the better of you. If you do not know what to do, speak in tongues for the next one hour. Recharge your spiritual battery. If you are so weak that you cannot even do that, look for a friend who will encourage you. Share with him or her. If he or she is a true friend, he or she will help you regain strength again. That is why the company you keep matters because it determines who you run to at times like that.

Don’t every give up or quit, rather keep serving Him. Trust Him. Keep fellowshipping with Him and I can assure you that He will perfect all that concerns you. Remember James 1:25 admonishes us saying “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed”.

Don’t just do things to follow tradition, but be led by the spirit of God, be alert and stay sensitive in the spirit. Remember that as many as are led by the Spirit of the Lord are the sons of God. Don’t just follow the crowd, be steadfast in your walk with God, and it is my prayer that He will bring to pass all your desires. Your heaven is open and you will not be denied.
